The postpartum period can bring various physical challenges as your body recovers from pregnancy and childbirth. Physiotherapy can play a vital role in addressing these issues, helping you heal and regain your strength.

Common conditions

Ongoing pregnancy issues and/or possible birth related issues

Perineal pain due to birth trauma

Increased bladder and bowel dysfunction

Pain with intercourse

Blocked ducts and mastitis

Prolapse

Caesarean or perineal scar issues

Sally's approach to treatment

Sally will work with you to help reduce your pain, regain optimal function and advise you around safe return to exercise.

Physiotherapy will include some or all of the following:

    • Education for improving your bladder and bowel function
    • Specific re-education for your pelvic floor and abdominal muscles
    • Gentle scar tissue massage and muscle/fascia release
    • Therapeutic ultrasound for blocked ducts and painful scars
    • Graduated return to exercise
